  • Description Sponsor: BrainTrust is a national community of women business owners. Our members use their Vaults to champion and challenge one another to grow their companies to their fullest potential. We share experiences in a respectful, open, and confidential space, and we celebrate the many aspects of diversity in each of our members, staff, and partners. We are NOT a networking group or social club... rather we show up to get things done.

Student: My name is Karungi Muteesi and I am 9 years old. My father passed away when I was a baby. I did not get the chance to see my father! It has been painful to see my mom raise me alone and the struggle and suffering that comes along. My mother is one of the kindest women; even when we do not have much to eat, she still shares the small things she has with our neighbors; my mom says she may not get me far in education because she is running out of what to do to get my school fees. My mother has been doing some business, selling food and milk, but since covid, the economy has been terrible! So it has been tough on her. I want to get an education to better myself and my mother, my dream is to create a restaurant that would be able to bring me some money, and I will be able to feed some people in the community.

  • 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫: I live in NYC and have been here for the last 15 years. I'm originally from California. I am the oldest of 4 children and am very close with my family. I have twin nieces who make me smile every day! I work in finance and have a wonderful group of friends who feel like family.

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭: My name is Komuhangi Hawa, I'm 8 years old studying in P.2 class. I never really got to know my parents because they left when I was very young;, this traumatized me while growing up as I didn't get to experience what parental love is. I was approached by a good Samaritan who decided to support my school fees but she also faces so many responsibilities and finds it extremely hard to provide the school needs on time and in many cases I'm left behind while being chased to collect fees.

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭: Natukunda Roset (13 yrs old) When I grow up, I want to become a health education woman. I think many women in our community need help with education about health and how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancy! Parents send kids to marriage at a significantly younger age than when they get pregnant. They do not want to do it and are not educated about it.
